

Mary was born in Jackson County, GA, was raised in Evans County and graduated from Claxton High School. She retired from Howard Lumber Company after 30 years of service, where she was the Office Manager and Bookkeeper. Mary was a very active member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church where she was a member of the Agnes Kelley Sunday school class, in which, she served as their Outreach Chairperson and The WOW Group (Women of Wisdom) and was an avid knitter and loved to crochet. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Howard Richey, Sr. and Maudean Archer Richey, 4 brothers and 2 sisters and son-in-law, Jim Self.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Angie R. Smith (Victor) of Roswell and Marcia R. Self of Melbourne, FL; brother, Joseph Richey (Joan) of Claxton; grandchildren, Leigh Smith of Roswell, Niki Guarino (Mark) of Statesboro; Ryan Miglis (Mitch) of San Francisco, CA; James Self of Kennesaw and Kristen Butler of Greenville, NC, 2 great-grandchildren, Cooper Guarino and Brody Guarino both of Statesboro, beloved niece, Linda Richey of Lakeland, FL and several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 8, in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 8, in Eastern Heights Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Harry Sherrer officiating.
Burial will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, October 8 in Brewton Cemetery in Hagan, GA.
