

Nancy Ellis George, age 71, a resident of St. Simons Island, Ga., died Tuesday August 23, 2011 in the Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, Georgia. Mrs. George was a native of Statesboro, Ga. and had been a resident of Glynn County since 1965. She was a graduate of Statesboro High School and Georgia Southern University where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Minor in Music. She retired from the Glynn County School System in 1997 after 32 years of teaching. During her career, Mrs. George taught at Goodyear, Glyndale and C.B. Greer Elementary Schools. Mrs. George was a member of the Coastal Georgia Historical Society, The Island Players, Island Concert Association and the Sea Oaks Garden Club. She was a member of the St. Simons Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are her husband, Charlie D. George of St. Simons Island; a daughter, Sally George Cramer (Bob) of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Stephen Ellis George of St. Simons Island; two grandsons, Benjamin George Cramer and Robert Jacob (Jack) Cramer, a granddaughter, Sara Chesley Cramer all of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Ed Ellis (Johnnie) of Statesboro, Ga., two nephews, Thomas Lockett Ellis (Ruthie) of Roswell, Ga., and William Henry Ellis (Wendy) of Statesboro, Ga., and an aunt, Ann Hockenberry of Savannah, Ga. Mrs. George was the daughter of the late Sara Pippin Ellis and Henry Joshua Ellis of Statesboro, Ga.
The family will receive friends at their home on St. Simons Island from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday August 25, 2011.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 26, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Simons Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Brearley officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday in Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Simons Presbyterian Church, 205 Kings Way, St. Simons Island, Ga., 31522 or the charity of your choice.
