

Polly Alysia Walker, age 58, died Wednesday morning after a brief illness. She was a native of Jesup, Georgia, and had lived in Statesboro for the past eight years. Mrs. Walker had been a registered nurse for the past 35 years and found her passion in working with patients in their homes. She loved her patients and their families all became her friends. She also enjoyed gardening and caring for plants. She was employed by Health Department Homecare Services.
She was preceded in death by her parents, O.W. and Laurie Walker of Jesup, Georgia; and one sister, Kim Shaddix of Jesup, Georgia.
Survivors include her two sons, Andrew Walton Thomas of Aspen, Colorado, and Jason (Melissa) Walker Thomas of Wilmington, North Carolina; one grandson, Dylan Thomas of Wilmington, North Carolina; one sister, Deborah (Bob) Barnette of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and two nieces, Susan Hilliard of Richmond Hill, Georgia, and Nicole Shaddix of Savannah.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The graveside service and burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Patterson, Georgia.
