He was born October 28, 1948 in Key West, Florida to the late Samuel Parmer Bath, Sr. and Argelia Maria Gonzalez Bath. He was reared in Pineville, Louisiana where he graduated from Tioga High School in 1966, served with honor in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was a member of Old Fellowship Baptist Church. He loved to share his wit, humor, pranks, and enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. Most of all, he loved to help family and friends with any tasks needing to be done.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Dianne (Blitch) Bath; children, Chanda Mashburn and husband, Michael of Savannah; Jarret Bath and Dee Waller of Stilson; four grandchildren, that he dearly loved, Samantha and Katelyn Mashburn; Sierra and Alex Collins; two brothers, Sam Bath, Jr. and wife, Eloise of Montgomery, TX; Greg Bath and wife, Diedra of Lake Charles, LA; two sisters, Peggy Morgan and husband, Rod of Dry Prong, LA; Barbara Dunn and husband, Ronald of Pineville, LA; step-mother, Betty Rose Bath Greene and step-sister, Darlene Smith both of Lake Charles, LA. He is also survived by in-laws, Edward and Winona Blitch of Stilson; Joy and Daniel Lee of Brooklet; Melanie and Mark Mikleboro of Tyrone, GA; Kim and Grady Hughes of Williamston, SC; Jeffrey and Donna Blitch of Stilson; Melissa Kight of Stilson; and a large beloved extended family of loved Uncles, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
He is preceded in death by brother, William Bath, step-brother, Darrell Bath, and brother-in-law, Kevan Blitch.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be held at Old Fellowship Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11AM with the Reverend Chuck Beaver and Reverend John Parker officiating. Mr. Bath will lie in state from 10AM until the funeral hour.
The burial, with military honors, will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Adam Bath, Allen Bath, Brad Bath, Christopher Bath, Jason Bath, Stephen Bath, Tommy Bath, Dexter Kight, and Brian Mock.
