

Ed was born and raised in Bulloch County and graduated from Statesboro High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force retiring after 20 years of service as a warehouse supervisor. While in the Air Force, he served in France, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and Charleston, SC. After retiring from the Air Force, Ed worked with Statesboro Electrical, Stringer Chevron, Akins Hardware and Walmart and was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Vada Marsh Brannen and his sister, Ernestine Roberts Cowan.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary J. Brannen of Statesboro; daughters, Barbara Brannen of Statesboro; Nannette Key of Metter and Charity Cone and her husband, John of Statesboro; four grandchildren, Summer Cone, Autumn Weldon, John Wesley Cone and Jessica Kirkland; one great-grandchild, Landon Mosley.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, September 7th in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
A private graveside funeral service and burial, with Military Honors, will be held Friday, September 8th in Eastside Cemetery with Reverend Lynward Campbell and Pastor Newman Samples officiating.
