William "Billy" Gene Godbee

"Billy" William Gene Godbee died on June 9th at age 72 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center due to an ongoing illness. He was the son of Bennie Godbee, Sr. and Wadie Mock.. He was born and raised in Screven county but has resided in Bulloch county for over 30 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved farming, herding cows, and outdoor life. He was proceeded in death by his brother, Franklin, sister, Francis, brother, Junior, half brother Lamar, half sister Bertie, and step sister Barbara.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Judy Godbee, daughter and son in law, Donna and John Promessi , Antioch, Ca,; daughter and son in law, Michelle and Robert "Bob" Lanier of Statesboro, Ga, daughter and son in law, Cindy and Wayne Deal of Statesboro, Ga, a granddaughter and grandson in law, Jessica and Kevin Cribbs of Brooklet, Ga,; granddaughters, Kayce, Kayla, Alyssa, and Paxton; grandsons; Victor and Ryan; three great grandkids, Hunter, Hayden, and Harper; and brother, Milton (Frank) Godbee and wife, Deanna.

Also surviving are half sisters Marie Sheley, Mary McGowan, and stepbrothers, Jackie Gordan, George Gordan and Robert Gordan. He also has many nieces and nephews that survive.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, June 12th, 2015 6-8p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home

A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home on Saturday June 13th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mitch Lynn and Jackie Gordon officiating.
