

He was born September 5, 1937, in Rowan County and was the son of the late Clarence Rufus and Vergie Arvita White Faust. He served in the U.S. Army 864th Engineer Battalion from 1961 until 1963. He was employed with Rubbermaid as a supervisor, M.A.N. Truck and Bus and retired with Benjamin Moore Paint Company. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather and was the family historian.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hollis Faust.
Banks is survived by his wife of 47 years, Edith Sherrill Faust, whom he married on June 30, 1963; a son, Banks Arvid Faust, Jr. and his wife Sue of Catawba; two daughters, Callie Ann Faust Shelar of Catawba and Terry Faust Esposito and her husband Mike of Concord; three grandchildren, Rebekah Shelar of Catawba, Farron Faust of Catawba, and Conner Esposito of Concord; a sister-in-law, Addie Faust of Statesville; and four nieces.
Funeral services celebrating Banks' life will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Matt Rummage. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
