Ms. Beverly Gilreath was born October 9, 1957, the daughter of Faye Henderson Goodman and the late Bobby Gray Joyner. She grew up in Statesville alongside her 1 brother and 1 sister. The majority of Beverly’s working career was spent in manufacturing and production, then she followed her love and passion of working with children for a decade. Beverly then took courses in early childcare development and continued her education at Mitchell Community College to pursue an AAS Degree.
Family was Beverly’s life; she devoted all her time and talents to those she loved including her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She loved spending time watching her children and grandchildren playing sports and attending their childhood events. During birthdays and holidays, she was certain to give the most thoughtful, creative, and even handmade gifts. She had a passion for trying new recipes and loved tasting everyone’s dishes at family gatherings. Beverly had a love for flowers and had various flowers and bushes around her home, in which she would pick from to make floral arrangements for her friends and loved ones. Beverly loved nothing more than being around her family to fellowship with one another and it meant the world to her.
Beverly was committed to caring for her children and was no stranger to hard and demanding work. She had an unparalleled work ethic that continued for decades and often included countless 12-hour work shifts that lasted for many years. She often worked two jobs doing whatever was necessary to provide and maintain a comfortable home for her children. She always found a way to make the most of life and the hand she was dealt, but most importantly gave her tithes to the Lord. Beverly was raised in a Godly home, with Beverly’s mother, Faye teaching the importance and reward to Beverly and her siblings at an early age. Beverly shared that same value by raising her children in a Godly home as well. Beverly was active in church, with teaching Sunday school, vacation bible school, and sang in the church choir.
Mrs. Gilreath was preceded in death by her father; Bobby Gray Joyner.
Beverly is survived by her mother Faye Henderson Goodman and step-father Darrell Goodman, daughter, Jessica Gilreath Anderson, Jason (Krista) Waugh, her five grandchildren, Colt, Emma and Axel Anderson and Kalli and Ivey Waugh, and also survived by her sister and brother Sharon Thomas, Tim Joyner, with nieces and nephews, Wyatt (Abby) and Garrett (Jillian), (Holly Joyner, Savannah Johnson) and host of many beloved cousins.
