Brittany Nicole Newton

She was born October 2, 1994, in Cabarrus County, and was the daughter of Mendy Lynne Newton and Michael Eugene Houston. She was a junior at South Iredell High School where she played on the school basketball team. She attended Beulah Heights Wesleyan Church and was a fun-loving girl with the sweetest smile.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Marie W. Newton; her paternal grandfather, Milton Potts Houston; and her great-grandparents, Bessie and Eugene McKee.

She is survived by her mother Mendy Lynne Newton of Troutman; her father, Michael Eugene “Geno” Houston of Mooresville; a brother, Tevin Newton of the home; a half-sister, Tamika Hill; and a half-brother, Jamie Hill, both of Salisbury; maternal grandparents, Gary and Elaine Newton of Troutman; paternal grandmother, Laura Roberts of Mooresville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services celebrating Brittany’s life will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Beulah Heights Wesleyan Church (108 Emmanuel Road, Troutman) with the Rev. Trent Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Valley Cemetery in Mooresville with a dove release ceremony.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at other times will be assembled at the residence.
