Drucilla Norris Davis

Drucilla Mae Norris Davis, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on August 26,1932 to Joe Ralph and Lura Mae Norris at her family home in Statesville, NC, Drucilla lived a life marked by faith, family, and service. At the time of her passing, she resided at The Greens at Hickory Nursing Home in Hickory, NC.

Drucilla's journey began with her graduation from Statesville Senior High School in 1950. She embarked on a career as a secretary at Sciota and Dorothy Reep Tax Service, where her diligence and dedication were evident. In 1952, she married Henry Thomas (H.T.) Davis, Jr., her beloved husband and a music minister, with whom she shared a deep love for church music and faith. Together, they nurtured a family and a shared passion for church and family life. Drucilla sang in a church choir for more than fifty years, a testament to her enduring passion for worship and community.

Drucilla's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of several congregations, including Oakdale Baptist Church, Fairview Baptist Church, and, most recently, Western Avenue Baptist Church. Her commitment to her faith extended beyond the church walls as she volunteered for sixteen years at Iredell Memorial Hospital, offering her time and compassion to those in need.

Drucilla's gentle, kind, and giving spirit touched everyone she met. She was known for her daily prayers for her family, calling each member by name, and for her ability to make others laugh. Her home was a welcoming haven where she delighted in providing food and snacks to all who visited. One of her most cherished hobbies was crocheting. She could be found crocheting afghans, blankets, baby clothing, and seasonal decorations for her home while watching old black and white movies, football, basketball, or game shows on her TV. She especially loved cheering for her favorite teams, The NC State Wolfpack and the Auburn Tigers.

Preceded in death by her husband, Henry Thomas Davis Jr., (H. T.) her parents Joe Ralph and Lura Mae Norris, and her brother Joe Donald Norris, Drucilla leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. She is survived by her two children: Denise Davis Stikeleather (Stanley) and Gary Thomas Davis, her six grandchildren: Carmen Stikeleather Cunningham (John), Eric Stanley Stikeleather (Bobbie), Candace Stikeleather Lindstrom (Sarah), Luke Thomas Davis (Mary), Andrew Travis Davis (Wenshy), and Brooks Aaron Davis, her six great-grandchildren: Davis Landon Graham, Laken McClain Lambert (Jonah), Conner Phillips Graham (Amanda), Ethan Miles Stikeleather, Lyla-Mae Davis, and Berkley Andrew Davis, her six step great-grandchildren, Amber-Lynne Lindstrom, Alyssa Marie Lindstrom, Mykala Anne Cunningham, Jacob Alexander Cunningham, Chloe Elizabeth Cunningham, and Zachery Michael Cunningham and her three step great great-grandchildren: Liam James Lindstrom, Arya Jade Lindstrom, and Elliana Faith Carver.

There will be a celebration of life service held at Western Avenue Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 7, 2025. At 10:00 AM, an hour before her service, the family will receive friends in the church foyer. Entombment will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Drucilla Davis to The Greens at Hickory Nursing Home, Hospice of Lincolnton, or Western Avenue Baptist Church. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Greens at Hickory Nursing Home for their care and compassion during her final years, and to Amanda with Hospice of Lincolnton for her empathy and tenderness in her final days.

Drucilla Mae Norris Davis will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, a loving wife, and a faithful servant of God. Her legacy of gentleness, humility, compassion, and kindness will continue to be a beacon of light to all who knew her.
