Edgar Lewis Lippard

Born August 27, 1922 in Iredell County, he was the son of the late Edgar Marvin Lippard and Grace Inez Rimmer Lippard.

Mr. Lippard proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed with G.L. Wilson Building Company as Building Superintendent, and retired after 65 years of service.

On November 27, 1943, he married the former Betty Nicholson, who preceded him in death on March 13, 2005. Also preceding him was one son, Thomas Marvin Lippard; one brother, Ralph Lippard and one sister, Dorothy Morrow.

Mr. Lippard served as Past President of the East Iredell Lions Club, Past District Lions Officer, was a member of the Troutman American Legion and the North Carolina Sherriff’s Association.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. His family will always remember him for being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Kevin Lewis Lippard (Susan) of Statesville and Renee Lippard Steele (Tim) of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Kelly Hill (Wayne), Jennifer Lippard, Cody Steele (Kelly) and Ryan Lippard (Mary); seven great-grandchildren, Owen Mahaffey, Brayden Hill, Carter Hill, Mackenzie Lippard, Emma Steele, Brooklyn Lippard and Mason Lippard; three sisters, Clarisse Cash, Audrey Kale and Phyllis Gibson (Jim) and three sisters-in-law, Wilma Lippard, Willa Fae Nicholson and Neva Nicholson.

The family will receive friends at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, Tuesday evening, July 14, 2015 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM.

The funeral service honoring Mr. Lippard’s life will be held in the Westmoreland Chapel of the funeral home Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 2:30 PM with Rev. Larry Holleman and Rev. Ed Bowman officiating. Burial will follow with military rites at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Lippard, Ryan Lippard, Tim Steele, Cody Steele, Wayne Hill and Owen Mahaffey. Honorary pallbearers will be Brayden Hill, Carter Hill and members of East Iredell Lions Club.
