

Mr. Ellis Watt Campbell, 69, of 187 Loray Lane, Statesville, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on January 9, 1944, he was a son of the late J. Rex Campbell and Jama Constance Keever Campbell. Ellis was in the first graduating class of Appalacian State University when it became a university. He taught and coached at Stony Point School and West Iredell Middle School and also during his career taught in the Alexander County Schools. He was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church and was an avid hunter, enjoying the outdoors.
On June 21, 1987, he married the former Angela Joy Beatty who survives. Also surviving is a brother, Don Campbell and his wife, Tena of Scotts.
Services celebrating Ellis' life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Concord Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kyle Goodman and Dr. Earl Linderman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will then receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the commital service.
