

She was born April 11, 1915, in Iredell County and was the last of twelve children of John Marion and Annie Hobbs Lippard. She was a member of Troutman Baptist Church where she had been a member of the Loyal Friends Sunday school class and the Aunt Mae Brown Circle. She loved to cook and always wanted to be sure everyone was well fed. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Ethel is survived by a daughter, Shirley S. Drum of Mooresville; a son, Gerald E. Sigmon (Jerrylene) of Troutman; three grandchildren, Smitty Drum of Terrell, Kristi Gentle and Tammy Sipes (Alan), both of Troutman; four great-grandchildren, Cody Sipes, Hillary Galliher (Chris), Heather Gentle, and Brandon Gentle; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services celebrating Ethel’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Westmoreland Chapel of the Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Revs. Paul Childer, J.B. Parker, Jr., and Don Ingle officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
