

She was a Statesville native and was the daughter of the late James Alonzo and Essie Delilah Cook Hart. Mrs. West attended Statesville City Schools and was a member of First Baptist Church of Statesville where she belonged to the Esther Sunday School Class. She was a devoted homemaker and a volunteer for Meals On Wheels and the American Red Cross. Frances was a giving person, giving of her love and of her time, the greatest gifts of all to her church, to her family and to her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on July 4, 1974, by her husband, Mr. R. C. West, Sr.; and two sisters, Hazel Hart Edwards and Isabelle Hart Ashley.
She was survived by a son, Roy C. West, Jr. and his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Jane Mitchell and her husband, Dan, and Mary Anne Slane and her husband, Thomas, all of Statesville; five grandchildren, Kelly Mitchell Davis of Cornelius, Webb Mitchell and wife, Kristy, Tracy Slane Turner, Clayton Slane and James Michael West all of Statesville; six great-grandchildren, Cam Turner, Katelyn Mitchell, Daniel Mitchell, Ellie Mitchell all of Statesville, and Patrick Davis and Mitchell Davis of Cornelius; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services celebrating her life will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, March 11th at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Porter and Dr. Jack Causey officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery earlier in the day.
