

Born May 27, 1932 in Alexander County, she was the daughter of the late Patrick Eugene Patterson and Luna Elizabeth McCurdy Patterson.
Mrs. York loved her family and always put them first and foremost. She enjoyed working in her flower garden as well as canning vegetables each summer. She loved animals especially her cat, Daisy, and hummingbirds. She retired from Bali, Inc. as a seamstress in 1996 and attended Calvary Baptist Church – Whites Mill Road.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lonnie McCoy York; an infant son, Joey Eugene York; and her siblings, William Patrick Patterson, Vona Patterson Duncan, Paul Wilford Patterson, Marie Patterson Mason, Isaac McCurdy Patterson, Flossie Patterson Barnes, and Otha Grey Patterson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathy (Stephen) Daegling of Cornelius, Patricia (Woody) Woodside, Sharon (David) Stroud, Carla (Tim) Ottone, and Anita (Rob) Hall, all of Statesville; twelve grandchildren, Andrea (Chad) McNeely, Josh (Shannon) Sloan, Meagan (Jason) Thomas, Shea Sloan, Geoff (Rebecca) Stroud, Adrianne Stroud, Amy Stroud, Sam (Katherine) Stroud, Jessica Ottone, Ethan Ottone, Calan Hall, and Anderson Hall; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Patterson Mason, Arlene Patterson Smith and Sylvia Patterson Walker; and her very special pet, Daisy.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 12:30 PM till 2:00 PM at the Ernest M. Troutman Memorial Chapel in Harmony. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Chris Haizlip and Rev. Steve Pope officiating. Mrs. York will be laid to rest beside her husband at Winthrop Friends Meeting Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Sloan, Geoff Stroud, Sam Stroud, Ethan Ottone, Anderson Hall, Jason Thomas, Brandon Moose, Shane Loftis and Kenny Benfield.
