Gerald D. Johnson

He was born in Ashe County on August 4, 1943.

Gerald worked for Southern Screw Company for 30 years, and later retired from Mitchell Gold Furniture Company. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and Rook and also enjoyed camping.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Jack Combs; his mother, Lucy Johnson Combs; one brother, Carl Combs; one sister, Virginia Hoosier and one grandson, Brent Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Evelyn Connolly Johnson, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, James “Jimmy” and Diane Johnson of Cleveland; three brothers, R. C. (Debbie) Combs, James (Margie) Combs and Ray Combs; four sisters, Fay Jones, Joann Brown, Stella (Bobby) Williams and Polly (Dean) Medley.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 25, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Westmoreland Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Tony Daniels officiating. Burial will be at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
