Born on September 18, 1928 in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Lee Haire and Lina Lucille Sherrill Haire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Eugene Haire and a sister, Virginia Lee Cloer.
Hazel was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School. She worked as a cloth grader at Clark-Schwebel for 30 years before her retirement. She was a former member of Monticello United Methodist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed reading mystery novels and poetry.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Betty Webber; nephews, Fielding (Alta) Cloer, Durant Haire, Lee (Jennifer) Haire, and Scott (Lisa) Webber, and nieces, Jeannie (Jim) Handy and Amy (Marko) Kozina.
A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ervel Jones officiating.
