James Thomas Roland

Born in Catawba County on January 10, 1927, he was the son of the late John Stanley Roland and Blanche Gray Roland. Also preceding him in death are one brother, John S. Roland and one sister, Sue Smith.

Mr. Roland served in the US Navy during WWII and retired from Melville Textile Print Works.

He was an avid fisherman, loved gardening and hunting, and was a member at Beulah Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alice Ouida Holton Roland, whom he married in August 1945; one son, James Michael Roland and wife Cinda of Mooresville; two grandchildren, Jason Roland and Shelley Roland, both of Charlotte; one great-grandson, Jason Tyler Roland; one brother, William K. Roland of Boise, Idaho, and two sisters, Frances Broeils of Aberdeen, NC and Reba Reece of Titusville, FL.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow beginning at 3:00 PM in the Westmoreland Chapel with Dr. Allen Roberts officiating. Burial will be held at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
