Jerome Norman “Shorty” Getzlaff, 55, of Cleveland died Friday, February 8, 2013, at Rowan Regional Medical Center. He was born February 5, 1958, in Bottineau, North Dakota, and was the son of Norman and Margaret Jensen Getzlaff. He worked in the environmental field as a driller and a driller coordinator and was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Mt. Ulla. He is survived by his wife, Judy Jordan Getzlaff, whom he married on August 30, 1986; four children, Tonya Getzlaff (P.J.), Todd Getzlaff (Carrie), Tara Getzlaff (Adam), and Trevor Getzlaff (Felicia); ten grandchildren, Hailey, Gavin, Tyler, Taylor, Cyley, Ryley, Tanner, Landon, Carter and Wiley; his parents, Norman and Margaret Getzlaff of Bottineau, ND; a sister, Sherry Bollinger (Darwin); a brother, Ardell Getzlaff, both of North Dakota; and his mother-in-law, Judy Jordan of Davidson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville. Memorial service celebrating Shorty’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Mt. Ulla with the Rev. Mary Louise Sitton officiating.
