Jewell "Judy" Rogers Westmoreland

She was a daughter of Joseph Green and Mattie Howard Rogers, and was born near Goodwater, AL, a state that she loved. She was the youngest and last living child among her brothers, Leon Rogers and Cliff Rogers, and sisters, Mary Luker, Ann Corley, Lela Mae Bean, and Mattie Lou Nabors.

In 1947, she married the late Ray Herman Westmoreland and moved to Raleigh where Ray was a student at N.C. State University. They later lived in Asheboro, Charlotte, and Statesville.

A 2:00 PM service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesville where she was church secretary for approximately 20 years and for five ministers. She requested a simple Episcopal service which will be led by the Rev. Brad Mullis. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

She loved her son, Phil, and his wife, Kathleen, of Chapel Hill and grandchildren, Nate and Ariel; her son, Jim, of Greenville; and her son Joe and her grandsons, Alex and Andrew in South Carolina.

Her written wishes were for her boys to be happy, do good, and love God.

The family will visit with friends prior to the service at Trinity Episcopal Church.
