

He was born September 13, 1934, in Iredell County and was the son of the late Taylor and Bessie Lee Combs Ingram. He retired from the N.C. Department of Corrections and attended New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on December 4, 2010, by his wife, Edna Hayes Ingram; a sister, Frances Elizabeth Wallace; and a step-son, Michael Edgar Riddle.
He is survived by his sister, Hazel Lee Ingram; a brother, Ray Forrest Ingram (Vallie); a step-daughter, Lisa Riddle Taylor (Robert); a step-son, James Thomas Riddle, all of Statesville; a niece, Jill Barnett (Michael) of Lakeville, MN; three nephews, Stephen Ray Ingram of Union Grove, Dennie Wallace (Becky) and Mack Wallace, Jr. (Ann), both of Statesville; five step-grandchildren, Michael Riddle, Brandon Riddle, Chelsea Riddle, Candy Riddle and Katie Daniels; three step-great-grandchildren; and three great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services celebrating John’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 3, 2013, in the Westmorland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ervel Jones officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service, at other times, will be at the sister’s home, 144 Wooten Farm Road, Statesville.
