

Mrs. Kathy Harkey Gilbert, 57, of 1575 Amity Hill Rd., Cleveland, died Saturday morning at her home. Born in Iredell County on May 17, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Albert Harkey and Ella Mae Hollifield Harkey. Kathy was employed in the payroll department of Freightliner. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and loved shopping, home decorating, the beach and being a grandmother. On April 24, 2004, she married Fred Gilbert who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Stacy Freeze Doby of Cleveland and Stephanie Freeze Henson of Troutman, two step sons, Michael Paul Gilbert of Kannapolis and Russell Fred Gilbert of Wilmington along with two step daughters, Torri Winona Jackson of Rapid City, S.D., and Angela Lynn Bowls of Raleigh. Additional survivors include a brother, Albert Randall Harkey of Cleveland and a sister-in-law, Melody Harkey also of Cleveland, and 11 grandchildren.
Services celebrating Kathy's life will be conducted at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Rev. Mack Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow in the Cleveland Town Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:30 for one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will assemble at the residence of the deceased at other times.
