

Kenneth attended North Iredell High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1972. He went on to earn an associate degree in Automotive and Welding Technology from Forsyth Tech Community College.
Upon graduating he opened his own shop, Gaither Automotive. He also worked at several manufacturing places, including Zimmer and Daimler Trucks Freightliner International, where he retired from in 2019, where he became a friend and mentor to many people.
On May 23, 1980, he married the love of his life, Mary. Kenneth, affectionately known as “Gate”, loved his family, working with his hands and racing of any kind. The family enjoyed vacationing often, especially at Disney World.
Kenneth also loved the Lord and served at Rocky Creek AME Zion Church in Harmony as a Trustee until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Gaither; sister, Sharon Gaither Turner (Billy); sons, Shawn Gaither (Avis) and Kenneth Gaither II (Takeisha); six grandchildren, Kionah Gaither, Kahleah Gaither, Kenneth Gaither III, Kaiden Gaither, Kennedy Gaither, and Kyler Gaither; special friends, John Summers (Linda); special cousins, Jerry James and Tammy Welman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville. Mr. Gaither’s funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be conducted at Rocky Creek AME Zion Church Cemetery.
