Loyd Matthew Campbell

Mr. Loyd Matthew Campbell, 85, of 229 QCC Dr., Harmony, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on December 27, 1927, he was a son of the late Clyde Barnette Campbell and Hallie Lundy Campbell. He was a retired deputy from the Iredell County Sheriff's Department and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, turtle graveling, groundhog hunting, spending time with his dogs and simply loved the outdoors and was a people person. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Lizzy Beth Campbell Hedrick, Stella Ann Campbell Fox, Martha Jane Campbell Allgood, James William Campbell, Grady Nelson Campbell, Hazel Louise Campbell Kelly and Virginia Campbell.

Survivors include a son, Terry Campbell of Harmony, a sister, Lillian C. Mabe of Statesville, and a grand daughter, Janie Marie Campbell. Also surviving are his special friends J.L. and Judy Padgett and his beloved dogs.

Services celebrating his life will be conducted at 2:00pm on Wednesday at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Henderson and Rev. William Wease officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens with full Military Rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.

The family will receive friends this evening (Tuesday) from 6:30 until 8:30 at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
