

Mrs. Margaret Law Burns, 95 of Statesville, died Monday, October 18th at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Born in Blount County, Tenn. on April 27, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Jackson Oliver Law and Maggie Wells Law. Margaret was a homemaker and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Statesville and a former member of First Baptist Church of Maryville, Tenn. At First Baptist Church of Statesville, she was a member of the church choir and the Esther Bible Class. She was also a member of the Toil and Tan Garden Club, The Mitchell Community College Choir and the McDowell Music Club.
On April 14, 1943, she married Mr. Robert Fielding Burns who died on July 7, 1988. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dr. Juanita Bassell.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Morgan of Statesville and a brother, Jackson Law of Huntington Beach, Calif., two nephews, William Morgan and his wife, Tina of Statesville and John Burr Bassell of Springfield, Tenn. along with a great niece, Margaret Wells Morgan.
Services celebratting Margaret's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Statesville with Dr. Jeff Porter and Dr. Jack Causey officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Interment will take place at 11:00 Monday at the Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, Tenn.
