

She was born May 20, 1929, in Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late William Jeter and Rettie Mitchell Parks. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where she had served as a volunteer assistant church treasurer, a former Sunday school teacher, an assistant Sunday school secretary, and was a member of the Hannah Ruth Sunday school class. She retired from Hunt Manufacturing and Modern Cleaners.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Martin Billings, whom she married on July 16, 1949; two sisters, Pauline Gregory and Mozelle Mahaffey; and two brothers, Bill Parks and Dean Parks.
She is survived by two daughters, Robin Niblock of Statesville and Sherry (Mike) Gupton of Raleigh; a son, Jeffrey Lynn (Judy) Billings of Statesville; three sisters, Betty (Jay) Campbell, Sue Davis and Rovena (Jim) Eidson all of Statesville; two brothers, the Rev. J.C. (Frances) Parks and Vance (Wanda) Parks both of Statesville; six grandchildren, Graham (Trish) Wales, Andy Wales, Vinnie VanCour, Robert (Connie) VanCour, George Niblock and Mary Niblock; a step-granddaughter, Leslie Martin; two step-great-grandsons, Steven and Sam Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will be held at 3:00 PM today (Wednesday, June 26, 2013) at Hebron Baptist Church with the Rev. Darren Johnson, the Rev. William Wease, the Rev. J.C. Parks, and the Rev. John Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM today at the church prior to the service.
