Mary Helen Hoover Hoover Kitchings

Mary Helen Hoover Kitchings (Kitten), 89, of Statesville, died peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the home of her cousin, Linda S. Adams (Clyde). Mrs. Kitchings had been in declining health for 8 years. She was born May 8, 1922, in Iredell County, and was a daughter of the late Herman O. and Eula Miller Hoover. She was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School and Mitchell Community College. She worked numerous years at Eagle's 5 and 10 Cent Store in retail merchandising and window decor. Later on she retired from K-Mart in Conover, N.C. She was also an avid Avon representative for 40 years.

She enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed her farm animals and dearly loved her kittens. She is survived by several cousins. Services celebrating her life will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Corbell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
