

Born May 14, 1922 in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Roy S. Sharpe and Minnie Deal Sharpe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Harvey Stevenson, Jr.; one sister, Irene Church, and two brothers, Clyde Sharpe and James Sharpe.
Mrs. Stevenson was a lifelong resident and supporter of her community. She was a member of the Monticello Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a 4-H Leader, and a member of the East Iredell Lions Club.
A faithful member of Concord Presbyterian Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher, was a member of the Women of the Church group, a Cub Scout Leader and the Concord Challengers.
Mrs. Stevenson was well known for her cakes and biscuits.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Marilyn Weatherford (Billy), Julian Stevenson (Cindy), all of Statesville, Ann Bentley (Howard) of Bethlehem and Cynthia Mills (Wayne) of Richfield; her grandchildren, Chris Weatherford, Mickey Weatherford and John Bentley, and her siblings, Gladys Josey, Verlyn Campbell, Lois Wooten and Carl Sharpe.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
The funeral service honoring Mrs. Stevenson’s life will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 11:00AM at Concord Presbyterian Church with the Rev. J. Kyle Goodman and Rev. John T. Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Concord Presbyterian Church, 3867 Taylorsville Hwy. Statesville, NC 28625 or to Hospice.
