Mary Pauline "Polly" Kennedy

Born in Iredell County on September 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Franklin Mackey and Mary Belle Mayhew Mackey.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Mullis in 2005; four brothers, Samuel, William, Robert and Benny Mackey and one sister, Thelma Tutterow.

Mrs. Kennedy was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church for over 65 years, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.

She will be remembered as a wonderful sweet lady, who loved the Lord and lived a strong Christian life and for being a wonderful cook.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Walter E. Kennedy; two sons, Barry (Dena) Kennedy of Salisbury and Scott (Judy) Kennedy of Statesville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Shirley Walker (John).

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM.

The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with Rev. Larry Holleman officiating. Burial will be held at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
