

Born in Iredell County on February 9, 1984, he was the son of Barry Waddell and Valerie Davis, both of whom survive.
Matt was a General Manager at K.M. Electrical Heating and Air Conditioning in Statesville. He was a member of Trinity Fire & Rescue Company as well as being deputy chief and a first responder; he was a member of Monticello Fire Dept., Iredell County Rescue, West Iredell Fire Dept., Iredell County Fireman’s Association and past chief of Iredell County Mobile Air Response Team.
Matt was preceded in death by his 2 infant twin sisters, his maternal grandfather, George Burrow and his paternal grandparents, Wilmont and Evelyn Waddell.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Jennifer Harris Waddell; his mother, Valerie Davis and husband Jeff Davis; his father, Barry Waddell and wife Lee Jan Waddell; his maternal grandmother, Belia “GiGi” Burrow; his mother and father–in-law, Steve and Barbara Harris; his brother-in-law, Jason Harris; his aunts and uncles, Linda Speaks and husband James, Lois Brown and husband Don, Larry Waddell and wife Lou, Carolyn Adams and Faye Waddell.
Matthew will lie in state Saturday from 12:00-1:00 pm at the South River Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 1:00pm with Rev. Jerry Gwaltney, Barry W. Waddell, Kent Moore and Jay Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens with full honors provided by Trinity Volunteer Fire Department.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Frankie Stikeleather, Hunter Jackson, Phillip Newsom, Ryan Goodin, Cameron Cheek, Jason Sprinkle, Cole Johnson and Chris Stone. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Trinity Volunteer Fire Dept., Monticello Fire Dept., Iredell County Sherriff’s Dept., and NC State Highway Patrol.
Following the interment service the family will receive family and friends at the home of Linda and James Speaks.
