

She was born in Alexander County on June 27, 1920; she was the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Mary Alice Sherrill Drum. Preceding her in death was her husband Huey L. Pope on February 26, 2001; four sisters, Mamie D. Waugh, Myrtle D. Waugh, Hazel D. Miller and Lucy D. Geerdes; and three brothers, John C. Drum, Grover Drum and Purnell Drum.
Left to cherish her memory are four sons and spouses, Alton (Gaye), Rynn (Colleen), Lynn (Kathy), Lexyie (Kathy) and one daughter, Patricia P. Sherrill (Harold). Also surviving are nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, also numerous nieces and nephews, and one sister, Shirley D. Clanton.
Minnie retired in 1991, after working 35 years at Beauty Maid Mills. She devoted her time to her family and her great love of gardening. She was a lifelong member of New Sterling ARP Church, belonging to the Sterling Silvers and The Golden Christian Circle. She received the 1998 Yearbook Dedication and a Love Gift for the years 2005-2006, by the Women of the Church.
Mrs. Pope will lie in state at New Sterling ARP Church, Monday, January 25, 2016 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM while the family is receiving friends and family.
The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Dr. Earl Linderman and Dr. Tim Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roger Pope, Michael Pope, Mark Sherrill, Jackie Sherrill, Sean Pope, Aric Pope and Bryan Pope.
