She was born March 19, 1942, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Fred Ladd, Sr. and Dorothy Cashion Ladd.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Benge; a son, Roger Wayne Benge; and two brothers, Fred W. Ladd, Jr. and John Franklin Ladd.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry E. Benge, and a son-in-law, Johnny A. Mattlewis of Statesville; a granddaughter, Shyann S. Mattlewis of Statesville; two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Nicole Strickland and King Armani Strickland; a niece, Tonya Ladd; and three nephews, Mike, Shannon and Brandon Ladd.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date.
The family will be gathered at the home of her daughter, Sherry Benge, 122 Corry Drive, Statesville.
