He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Derera Chambers.
He is survived by his children, Phillip Tucker (Bethany) of China Grove, Phyllis Renee Scott of Wilmington, Delaware, Kenyana Chambers of Fayetteville, and Azariah Chambers of Statesville; stepson, Andre James (Josephine) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; step daughters, Alicea Patterson (Nickolus) and Taylor James, both of Charlotte; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and sisters, Drucilla Summers and Tawana Williams (Frank), both of Statesville.
Phillip graduated from North Rowan High School, and also attended Mitchell Community College. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of True Vine Worship Center, in Statesville, NC.
