

She was born August 1, 1935, in Catawba County and was a daughter of the late Howard and Pauline Frye Montgomery. Phyllis was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church and loved horses. In her younger years she was an avid softball player. Her first husband, Mr. Ted DeRhodes and her second husband, Mr. Marshall Edward (Eddie) White both preceded her in death. She was the owner and operator of Hilltop Trading Post.
Survivors include a son, Rick DeRhodes and his wife, Janet Lee, of Waxhaw; a daughter, Terry DeRhodes of Statesville; a sister, Judy LaFone of Statesville; and two grandchildren, Kathryn and Caroline DeRhodes.
Services celebrating Phyllis' life will be conducted at 2:00 Friday December 16, 2011, at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. James Cartin and Dr. Ed Yarbrough officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from Noon until the funeral hour and burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be assembled at the residence.
