

Mr. Wilson was born on January 3, 1932 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Maude Campbell Wilson and Jonah Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmie Wilson and James Wilson and recently one sister, Louise Wilson Cook.
He graduated from Celeste Henkel School and was a veteran of the US Navy. He worked for 15 years at Kewaunee Scientific and was called into the ministry in 1964.
He entered and graduated from Piedmont Bible Evening School in Winston-Salem, NC. Rev. Wilson was ordained and was the pastor of Temple Baptist Church since its inception in 1965 until his retirement seven years ago.
He preached and believed that every man is a sinner and in need of the Savior to save them from their sins. He stood firm on the Bible being the perfect, inerrant Word of God and is our final authority in life for these 43 years.
He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather with a sense of humor that made people laugh and with a meek spirit that made people love him. His Christian testimony will carry on in the lives of others that he ministered to for eternity. His motto was “Always Do Right”.
He is survived by his faithful wife of 60 years, Dorothy Mason Wilson “Sugar Lump”; daughter, Dawnn Wilson Kimberlin (Randy); two sons, Keith A. Wilson (Sandra) and Timothy A. Wilson (Marsha); eight grandchildren, Candy Kimberlin Combs (William), Micah Kimberlin (Katie), Brandi Wilson, Amber Wilson Clark (David), Brittany Wilson Kunkle (Brandon), Justin Wilson, Tabitha Wilson and Chase Wilson.
Rev. Wilson is further survived by six great-grandchildren, Tyson Combs, Lauren Combs, Cade Combs, Hudson Kimberlin, Avah and Serenity Wilson, all of Statesville; two sisters, Shirley Sharpe and Shelby Wilson Compton (Joe), both of Statesville and a dear precious long-time friend and former Associate Pastor Mack L. Pennell, Jr.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 10, 2015 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Temple Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM with Pastor Randy Mitchell, James Childress and Terry Tevepaugh officiating. Interment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens with military rites by Iredell County Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Micah Kimberlin, David Clark, Andy Hedrick, Wayne Church, William Combs and Brandon Kunkle. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyson Combs and Cade Combs.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Temple Baptist Church 205 Museum Road Statesville, NC 28625.
