Richard Kendall (Dick) Martin

Mr. Richard Kendall (Dick) Martin, 89, of 715 St. Cloud Dr. Statesville, died Sunday June 26, 2011, at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Forsyth County on November 30, 1921, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Martin and Bertie Tullock Martin.

He was the former President of Southern Screw Company. On August 23, 1973, he married the former Mary Sasser who survives. Also surviving are sons: Mike Martin and his wife, Marsha of Aurora, Ill., Wayne Martin and his wife, Pat of Statesville, Jeff Martin and his wife, Donna of Madisonville, Tenn., Keith Martin and his wife, Elaine of Mooresville and Ron Harris and his wife, Kathy of Columbus, N.C., a daughter, Pam Edwards, her late husband was Cotton, of Cornelius and a son-in-law, Bob Wailes, his wife was a daughter, the late Jackuelyn, of Carlsbad, Calif.

Additional survivors include grandchildren: Jay Martin, Katie (Adam) Meurer, Wesley (Kristi) Martin, Emily (Jody) Gatton, Lindsay Martin, Nick Martin, Jeremy (Holly) Martin, Brandon (Shannon) Martin, Kris Martin, Josh (Kendra) Connolly, Nichole (Chad) Anderson, Dustin Wailes, Shannon and Shelby Wailes, Blake (Stephanie) Harris, Andrew Harris, Jonathan Lowery and Jennifer & AnnaGrace Gibson.

Also surviving are great grandchildren: William Martin, Joleigh Gatton, Tripp Gatton, McKenzie Martin, Mylee Martin, Sam Martin, Abbey Martin, McKenna Martin, Mikaela Connolly and Sydney Anderson. He is also survived by a sister, Louise Carson of Jacksonville, Fla. Private services have already been held.
