

She was born October 29, 1921, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lizzie Hartness. She was a devoted homemaker and mother and worked at Beaunet Mills and on the family farm. She was a member of Poplar Springs Church of God where she was a former Sunday school teacher and played the piano and guitar. She enjoyed watching wrestling and was always there to help and care for those in her community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1981 by her husband, Troy Ransom Tilley; a son, Herman Lee Tilley; a son-in-law, James Wilcox; a grandson, Michael Tilley; five sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Wilcox of Statesville; two sons, Ray (Elaine) Tilley of Hiddenite and Ricky (Jessica) Tilley of Statesville; seven grandchildren, Angie Tilley, Jamie Tilley, Amanda (Austin) Johnson, Tony (Shanna) Wilcox, Timmy (Crystal) Wilcox, Shane (Penny) Wilcox, Diane Tilley, and Billy (Jenn) Tilley; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services celebrating Rosie’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Poplar Springs Church of God with the Rev. Steven L. Newman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and other times will be at the home of the granddaughter, Amanda Johnson, 164 Tarrington Drive, Statesville.
