

Born on October 6, 1919 in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Charley Lafayette Waugh and Mary Elizabeth Caskaddon Waugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Albert Earl Fisher in 2005; and all six of her siblings.
Ruth was in the first graduating class of Celeste Henkel High School. She was a life-time and the oldest living member of Beulah Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and homemaker who enjoyed traveling with her family on trips across the country. She also loved flowers and vegetable gardening, baking, and piecing tops and quilting quilts.
Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Kent (Bonnie) Fisher and Terry Fisher; daughters, Wanda (Glenn) Gilleland, Carolyn McLelland, and Brenda Foster; grandchildren, Glenn Albert Gilleland, Jeremy Fisher, April (Jeff) Wofford, Ryan Foster, Sara (Chris) Cocke, Michael (Lydia) Fisher; great-grandchildren, Shawna (Brandon) Witmer, Colton Cocke; great-great grandchildren, Christina, Maribelle, Annabelle, and Vincent Witmer, as well as many other special nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at Beulah Baptist Church on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. Entombment will immediately follow the service at the Mausoleum of Iredell Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, Att: Building Fund, 1851 Old Mountain Rd., Statesville, NC 28677.
