Ruth Overcash Perry

Ruth Overcash Perry, a believer in Jesus Christ, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 10th. She was born May 8th, 1928 to Lester and Mae Overcash. Ruth was happily married for 56 years, to Kenneth W Perry, who went on to heaven 5 years before her, She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and sang in the choir most of that time. Kenneth and Ruth operated Perry’s Upholstery in Amity Hill together for more than 40 years.

She was a devoted and loving mother to four children, five grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Ruth leaves four families: her son Kenneth Eugene, daughter in-law Kathy and grandsons John and Luke; her daughter Mrs. Barbara Perry Deal, son-in-law Ronald, and granddaughter Hannah; her daughter Mrs. Carol Perry Carrico and son-in-law Deane; her daughter Sylvia Perry Jenkins, grandson Chris and his wife Dusty and great granddaughter Zoe Anne, grandson Matthew and his wife Brooke and great grandson Kaden Matthew. Her great grandson Whyatt Michael (son of Chris and Dusty) went on to heaven before her.

In addition she leaves behind her sister Sarah Overcash, nephew Dennis Overcash, brother-in-law Ralph Perry and sister-in-law Jerry of Statesville, sister-in-law Fannie Mae Grantham and brother-in-law Norman of La, Junta, Co , 14 other nieces and nephews, and her special friend and caregiver Becky Whittaker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm on Wednesday December 14th at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Leo Fair officiating. Ruth will lie in state for 30 minutes before the service. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7pm to 8:30pm on Tuesday evening at Bunch Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville.
