Shirley Doby Chapman

She was born January 28, 1935, in Reidsville, NC, and was the daughter of the late Walter and Ollie Parker Doby. She was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and a devoted homemaker. She was member of Western Avenue Baptist Church and very active with the Iredell Senior Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Fred “Mickey” Chapman, whom she married on September 11, 1955; four sisters and four brothers.

Shirley is survived by a son, Brian F. Chapman of Statesville; a daughter, Kristen Parker of Statesville; five grandchildren, Wren, Kade and Paxton Parker, and William and Catherine Chapman; and a brother, J.D. Doby of Cleveland.

Memorial service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Spry and Dr. Skip Cartin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday at the church prior to the service.
