

She was born February 16, 1934, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Murray Milton and Eula Kennedy Morrow. She was a part of the Scotts High School Class of 1952 where she led the band as one of the four majorettes. She then graduated as a member of the first graduating class of A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis. She was a charter member of Monticello United Methodist Church which she joined in 1947 at the age of 13. She was active in the ministry of the church for 67 years and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was employed as office manager with Frederickson Motor Express Corporation in Statesville and later worked with S & S Trucking Company. She was active in the Llederi Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association and served as president numerous times. She enjoyed traveling to many interesting places but one of her favorite trips was to the ABWA annual convention in Phoenix where she was a candidate for vice-president of the organization.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Myra Morrow Steelman; two brothers, Eugene P. Morrow and Donald L. Morrow; and her special cats, Precious and Chippie.
She is survived by her husband, William Dalton Holland, whom she married on June 21, 1969; a daughter, Debra Seagraves Oliver of Statesville; a son, Donald Wilson Seagraves, Jr., of Cowpens, SC; five grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral service celebrating Sonya’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Monticello United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jill Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM this evening at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
