Virginia Margaret Sharpe

Born April 25, 1924 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Daniel Hefner and Dollie Lentz Hefner.

Mrs. Sharpe was a homemaker and a member of Redemption Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Lee Sharpe; two grandsons, Radale Lee Sharpe and LCPL Johnathan Sharpe; three brothers, Carl Hugh Hefner, John Henry Hefner, and Dewey L. Hefner; and sister, Georgie Estes, and two infant twin sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Billy Ray Sharpe (Peggy) of Olin, and Roger Dale Sharpe (Saralena) of Statesville; one daughter, Margaret Menscer (Charles) of Statesville; three grandchildren, Jada Sharpe, Allison Linebarger, and Amy McDaniel; four great-grandchildren, Megan Linebarger, Evan Linebarger, Sean McDaniel and Taylor McDaniel, and two sisters, Ruby Anderson and Mary Wiles.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at New Prospect Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dwight Dowell officiating. Mrs. Sharpe will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will speak to friends and family after the service.
