

Born in Augusta, Georgia on April 6, 1942, he was the son of William Devaughn Orander, Sr. and Ruby Williamson Orander.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Army. He graduated from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and was a retired pharmacist from Eckerd Drug.
He was an avid Tarheel fan, loved to hunt, fish, play golf and spend time playing with his grandchildren, whom he loved very deeply. Bill was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church, a member of the Stewart-Mercer Sunday School class and was a Gideon.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Patsy White Orander, of the home; children, Jerry Yoder (Jennifer) of Huntersville, William Orander, III, of Clinton, NC and Robin (Michael) Matlock, of Wilmore, Kentucky and grandchildren, Emily Orander, Megan Orander, both of Wake Forest, Brody Orander of Goldsboro, Madeline Matlock, Raleigh Matlock and Isaac Matlock, all of Wilmore, Kentucky, Chase and Caitlyn Yoder, both of Huntersville.
A Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Skip Cartin and Dr. Jeff Spry officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with military rites provided by The Iredell County Veteran Association Burial Detail.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 – 3:00 prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nate Neeley, Stewart Deal, Bill Brendel, Bob Cashion, Charlie Aman, and Jim Beaver. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Stewart-Mercer Sunday School class.
