

He was born September 10, 1926 at Borderland, West Virginia, and was the son of Vina Maynard Parsley and Edward Lee Parsley who preceded him in death.
He graduated from Chatteroy High School in Chatteroy, West Virginia and was a graduate of National Business College in Roanoke, Virginia, with a degree in Accounting and had further education at Lenior- Rhyne College in Computer Programming.
He served in the US Army during World War II and worked as a computer specialist until he opened his own Statesville Computer Service, operating it until he retired. He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist church where he was a member of the choir for many years, taught Sunday school and took an active part in all of the activities until he developed an incapacitating illness.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Chester, Blaine, Clifford, and Edward (who was killed in Vietnam War) Parsley; three sisters, Cora Heineman, June Torres, and Patsy Porter.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Peggy Carolyn Bailey; their three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Parsley and Terry Sherrill, Carolyn Parsley Starnes and Husband Terry Starnes, Debbi Parsley and Bill McKellive; four grandchildren, John Foldger, Savannah Sloan, Ellis Arispe, and Jenna Arispe; a great-grandson, Asher Sloan; a brother, Lowell Parsley and wife Rosemary; and a sister Mildred Parsley Nicholas.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 9, 2012, at Broad Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Gehring officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 PM Monday at the church prior to the service.
