

She was born May 6, 1935, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Michael Sylvester and Etta Mae Redman Troutman. She retired from Iredell-Statesville Schools and Food Lio. She was an active and faithful member of Mountain Road Baptist. She was a people person who never met a stranger and always had a selfless, giving and caring nature. She enjoyed spending time with family and especially family trips to the beach. She also enjoyed flower gardening and her animal friends.
On January 24, 1953, she married Lonnie Wade Deal, who preceded her in death on August 5, 2002. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lou Ann Deal; two sisters, Ola Mae Caskaddon and Audrey Mundy; two grandsons, Thomas McDaniels and John Caleb Caldwell; and a grandson-in-law, Shannon Brown.
She is survived by four children, Janet (Randy) Wyatt, Lonnie M. Deal, Trudy (Kenny) Wooten, and Laura (Tony) Caldwell, all of Statesville; 12 grandchildren, Brandi Harris, Wendy (Jonathan) Adams, John Douglas (Cori-Anne) Gallina, Sean (Randi) Gallina, Brandon Wooten, Travis (Gina) Wooten, Samuel Caldwell, and Philip Caldwell, all of Statesville, Hannah (Sean) Mangan of Orlando, FL, Fallon Deal (Carl) of Winston-Salem, Michael (Susan) Caldwell of Mooresville and Bradley (Shannon) Caldwell of Lincolnton; 14 great-grandchildren, Luke, Lance and Lane Harris, Gavin and Riley Mangan, Kayla Brown, Peyton and Cali Adams, Damon McDaniels, Jordan Parker, Joseph and Ella Gallina, and Layla and Rylee Wooten; a sister, Ellen Munday of Statesville; three sisters-in-law, Louise (Erby) Norton, Thelma Keever and Olean Deal, all of Statesville; and special care givers, Pat Barnes, Doris Withers and Alyssa Atwell.
Funeral service celebrating Deanie’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 16, 2014, at Mountain Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM today (Thursday, May 15) at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
