Born January 4, 1937 in Staunton, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Eloise Via.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Coleman H. Powers; sister, Reffa Kirby; and a special friend and neighbor, Emma Jean Desper.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Barry C. Powers (Debbie) of Staunton.
Charlotte was a life-long member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Kings Daughters Hospital where she worked as a nurse’s aide in the nursery for over 20 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and a cherished friend to many others in her life. If she touched your life, you knew it. Charlotte loved to entertain family and friends by cooking, baking, decorating for the holidays, and family dinners. She also loved listening to country music.
The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to all those who helped care for her over the past three years and especially the last six months. Thank you for all of your love and support.
Charlotte’s favorite bible verse that she lived and believed in was Psalm 118: 24... “This is the day the Lord has made, lets us rejoice and be glad in it.” The Lord gained a very special angel today.
Following cremation, there will be no formal services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Staunton.
