James "Jimmy" Francis McCrea

He was born August 28, 1948 in Waynesboro, the son of the late George F. and Martha Stone McCrea.

He was a member St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church of Waynesboro and retired from American Safety Razor.

Jimmy was an avid sportsman, gun enthusiast, enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the National Bench Shooter’s Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Brett Falls.

Survivors include a son, Alexander Brett McCrea of Staunton, three daughters; Dana Fitzgerald and husband Tommy of Stuarts Draft, Emily McCrea of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Jan Lunsford and husband Keith of Charleston, SC, two sisters; Rebecca “Becky” Wells of Fishersville, Elizabeth “Beth” Brady and husband Steve of Fishersville; five grandchildren, Lauren Fox, Trevor Fitzgerald, Xoe McCrea, Gabrielle McCrea, Sean McCrea; two nieces; Lanette Sykes, Ashley Brady, one nephew, Travis Brady and numerous special friends.

A service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes by Father Joseph Wamala. Burial will follow in Fishersville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kim Stone, Jerry Phillips, Steve Arehart, Ronnie Dameron, Gary Stroop, Benny Blakemore, Wayne Craig, Bob Rosen and Keith Lunsford.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 PM this evening, Friday, January 18, 2013 at the funeral home.
