Nécrologie de John Howard Clark
John Howard Clark was born on June 2, 1946 in Taunton, England and passed away January 1, 2021 at the Salem Veterans Hospital. He was lovingly called Papa Smurf and Papa John by his daughter and goddaughter who loved him greatly. John served in the U.S. Army, spoke Korean and was a carpenter by trade. John was a rowdy fellow in his younger years and enjoyed playing the guitar, poker games, and driving his blue van on the Skyline Drive. As John got older, he mellowed greatly and loved drinking large cups of black coffee, a good Pepsi, and eating as many Three Musketeers as he could get his hands on. John had a quick whit and devilish sense of humor. Even in his later years, he could often be found with a sparkle in his bright blue eyes, grinning to charm the ladies. John lived every moment of his life to the fullest and was an unapologetic man who bluntly spoke his mind. John was a fighter, surviving many things through sheer grit and will. He loved folk music and often listened to Bob Dylan and John Prine and enjoyed singing “In the Pines”until his last months on earth. John had previously been a member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge and the Waynesboro Eagles. The family would like to thank the staff at the Salem Veterans Hospital for the extraordinary care and support provided. There will be no formal services.
