Carolyn was born on June 28, 1940, in a strawberry patch on her family’s farm in Superior, Wisconsin, to the late Fred and Lillian Jamiska. As a young woman, after graduating from Northwestern High School in Maple, Wisconsin, she courageously embarked on her journey to Chicago, where she fell in love and built her family and legacy alongside her devoted husband Francis (Frank) Fountaine, with whom she shared a loving partnership until his passing in 1997.
Carolyn was proud to be the loving mother of son Mark (Trina) Fountaine and daughter Antoniette Fountaine, the cherished grandmother of Samantha Fountaine, the adoring great-grandmother of Lila Fountaine, and the beloved sister to siblings James (Renee) Jamiska, Barbara Walrath, and the late Annette Hegbloom - amongst neices, nephews, cousins and friends of whom adoration was mutual.
With her sharp wit, deep loyalty and kind heart, Carolyn lived a life of service as both the foundation and heart of her family - gracious yet strong, humble yet resolute. A lighthouse for her loved ones, she leaves behind a legacy of resilience, unwavering devotion, deep faith, and a mother's love so pure and enduring that it will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
A funeral service honoring Carolyn’s life will be held on Monday, December 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Stickney, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago in memory of Carolyn's generous nature and lifelong dedication to caring for the disabled.
