Manuel Luna, Jr. was born in El Barretal, Tamaulipas, Mexico on February 12, 1938 to Bernardina Jimenez de la Fuente and Manuel Luna. He passed away in his home on May 26, 2021. He came to the United States in 1961, first settling in Texas and then Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. Chicago’s La Villita/Little Village neighborhood was his home since 1972. He was an avid reader despite his limited formal education and also loved music and movies, being able to recall detailed scenes from memory. Manuel is survived by his three children: Nancy Luna, Antonio Luna and Jose Luna and his grand daughters, Leandra Dalia Luna and Cecilia Cornejo.
A visitation for Manuel will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402, a funeral service will take place at 5:30 PM .
